Week 1: Web App Challenge
I recently announced on twitter, much to the dismay of my introverted self, I was doing a web app challenge, that was inspired by Nathan Barry.
This happened because I was listening to an old old old Indie Hacker Podcast Interview. I have been following Nathan on and off for a long time and his self challenge resonated with me, so here we are…
Today, it feels like no matter which market you try to enter it is really crowded, which brings back into focus what Hiten Shah said a few years back which was a thought I had for a couple years prior but to have him say it was confirmation (insert bias 🤓).
Hiten has only mentioned it in passing and only twice ever based on all the presentations I have watched so far, so that gives me a little time to execute on the idea. The funny thing is I haven’t seen him implement his own idea 🤨. This principle reminds me of red oceans vs blue oceans from Blue Ocean Strategy. The what is what’s elusive but Hiten’s comment is like a compass.
So I am now looking for a problem that can be solved using a web application, not sure how long this is going to take, but I do have an idea of who I want to target.
It’s easy getting stuck in analysis paralysis and ship nothing and the aim of doing the challenge is to make sure I ship something. I am aiming for December 1, 2019 to have the first version up and people can start using it. I know it will be pretty basic but I will continue to improve on it over time.
Until next week create value and ship.
